Nature is ever-present in Renoir’s work. Gardens, bouquets, foliage and flowers surround his figures, their colours and light contributing to the vibrant and joyful vision of the world that characterises his paintings.
Following the exhibition Renoir and Love. Modernity in Joy (1865–1885) at the Musée d’Orsay this year, Brochier Soieries chose to focus on one detail that runs throughout the artist’s work: flowers.
Rather than reproducing the paintings in their entirety, we focused on selected details, isolating flowers, foliage and touches of colour before transposing them onto silk. Five scarves were created from five works: Chrysanthemums, Garden in the rue Cortot, Young Girl with a Fan, Bouquet of Flowers and A Box at the Theatre (At the Concert).
The five scarves in this new Renoir collection will be available for the Christmas season in Brochier Soieries boutiques and from our online store.
